Paul Mitchell has served the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit for many years and assisted in finding creative ways to address the organization’s accommodation challenges. With over 150 employees spread over three locations in the City of North Bay, productivity and effectiveness were compromised. These efforts have resulted in the construction of a new, purpose-built facility on Oak Street in North Bay, scheduled to open in late-spring 2017.
The architectural design was inspired by staff and management, who shared generously to help the architects to make this building the best it can be. The two storey facility will accommodate clinics serving the public as well staff spaces to support all the health promotion activities of the Health Unit. The building will be an expression of the value of public health in the community and enable the dedicated staff to provide the highest level of professional services to which it aspires.
With elements of wood and stone, views of Lake Nipissing and abundant daylight the building will reflect its place in Northern Ontario.
Paul was genuine, trustworthy, accountable, always available and communicated openly and transparently. He took the time to understand the role of public health and client needs which was ultimately reflected in his superb creative design. Simple, functional, cost-effective, and elegant. Paul is a consummate professional of the highest integrity whose standard is always excellence.
